Bicentenario de la Independencia 1821-1824: Procesos sociales y epidemias para la institución escolar

At the beginning of 1821 the city of Lima was surrounded by the army, troops, guerrillas and montoneras of the patriotic side, faithful to José de San Martín. The objective was to cut off the food supply that came from the mountains, seeking to exhaust the viceroy's forces and force him to leave the city. His plan was successful, as the royalists moved towards Cuzco. This allowed the entry of San Martín to the capital in July 1821, proclaiming independence on the 28th of the same month. However, the cost of the siege was high, as hunger, cold and disease reduced the troops on both sides and seriously affected the health of the city's inhabitants. Based on the above, this research analyzes the state and treatment of health and disease during the Peruvian war of independence (1821-1826), both from the State and from the various actors of the time.A inicios de 1821 la ciudad de Lima se encontraba cercada por el ejército, tropas, guerrillas y montoneras del bando patriota, fieles a José de San Martín. El objetivo era cortar el suministro de alimentos que llegaban desde la sierra, buscando agotar las fuerzas del virrey y obligarlo a abandonar la ciudad. Su plan tuvo éxito, pues los realistas se movilizaron hacia el Cuzco. Esto permitió el ingreso de San Martín a la capital en julio de 1821, proclamando la independencia el 28 del mismo mes. Sin embargo, el costo del asedio fue elevado, pues el hambre, frío y enfermedades mermaron las tropas de ambos bandos y afectaron gravemente la salud de los habitantes de la ciudad.  Partiendo de lo señalado, la presente investigación analiza el estado y el tratamiento de la salud y enfermedad durante la guerra de independencia peruana (1821-1826), tanto desde el Estado como desde los diversos actores de la época
