CODE-MIXING USED BY THE TEACHERS IN TEACHING ENGLISH AT MTsN 2 KOTA JAMBI

This research aims to find out the types of code mixing and the reason of teachers using code-mixing code mixing in teaching English. The site of this research was at MTsN 2 Kota Jambi. The subject of this research were two English teachers that teach 8th grades students in MTsN 2 Kota Jambi. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research design. The data of this research were obtained through observation and semi-structured interview. The finding of this research indicates that the types of code mixing when the teacher produces during the teaching are intra-sentential code-mixing, intra lexical code-mixing, involving a change of pronunciation. As well as the type mostly used by the teachers is intra sentential code-mixing. Futhermore, the teacher using code mixing in the teaching and learning process, the research found that the teachers (T1) and (T2) used code mixing the most during while-teaching activities in grade 8th MTsN 2 Kota Jambi
