SOCIAL CLASSES AND CONFLICTS IN SNOWPIERCER 2013 FILM BY BONG JOON-HO

In this research, the researcher analysed an action-thriller film which consists of conflict about social class that occurred in the train named Snowpiercer, such as conflict between the upper class and the lower class. In the lower class, there was Curtis that wanted to fight the people from the upper class, especially Wilford who is the owner of the train. This research aims to discuss about; 1) What are kinds of social class described in Snowpiercer film. 2) What are kinds of conflict described in Snowpiercer film. 3) What are factors that cause social conflict in Snowpiercer film.Qualitative descriptive was used as the design of this research. The data of this research was obtained from the script and the scenes from the movie. The researcher used theories from Karl Marx, and Soekanto as a guide in answering the questions of this research. The result of this research shows that there are two social classes in Snowpiercer film, which are; 1) The upper class and 2) The lower class. Kinds of conflict in the movie such as; 1) Conflict of involving social position and 2) Conflict of interest. Factors that cause the social conflict, such as; 1) Individual differences, 2) Cultural differences, and 3) Clash of interest
