The humanist movement dates back to three famous Italian authors Dant Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca and Giovanni Boccaccio. In the specific case of Petrarch, he was a poet, philosopher and religious, although a critical cleric, since his contributions objected to some negative elements of the Catholic Church, such as its corruption and its love of the ostentatious. Among his famous discoveries are the letters of Cicero, whose influence was decisive in the Renaissance and humanism of the fourteenth century, as well as for the Enlightenment period. Therefore, this editorial note highlights the substantiality of Petrarca humanism in current times.El movimiento humanista se remonta a tres celebres autores italianos Dant Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca y Giovanni Boccaccio. En el caso específico de Petrarca, fue un poeta, filósofo y religioso, aunque crítico clérigo, ya que sus aportes objetaban algunos elementos negativos de la Iglesia católica, como su corrupción y su amor a lo ostentoso. Entre sus célebres descubrimientos se encuentran las cartas de Cicerón, cuya influencia fue determinante en el renacimiento y el humanismo del siglo XIV, así como para el periodo de la Ilustración.
