Purpose: Interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) have high diagnostic value concerning patients with epilepsy and the instances of obtaining IEDs increase with longer recording times. However, the merit of a single, extended electroencephalography (EEG) recording in detecting IEDs has not been substantiated.
