Ansvarsutkrävande på kommunal nivå : Vilken kunskap har unga om kommunpolitiken?

A fundamental part of democracy is that voters can demand responsibility from the politicians who govern the country, the region or the municipality. If accountability is to work, the voter must know who is in control and what they control. If voters do not know who governs and is responsible for the policies pursued, they can not demand responsibility. This study therefore aims to examine the basic level of knowledge about local politics among high school students. With the help of a survey at two different schools, the following questions are answered. “What knowledge do young voters have about which people and parties govern the municipalities?” “What knowledge do young voters have about which areas the municipality's politicians are responsible for?” 76 people from six different municipalities responded to the survey. The conclusion is that young voters have weak knowledge about who governs in the municipalities and relatively poor control of what a municipality is responsible for. Thus, there is a lack of knowledge to be able to demand responsibility from their political representatives at the municipal level
