This article aims at analyzing how semantic relations among different city areas are reshaped depending on housing development. Reference is made to those urban modifications already planned, in terms of outskirt definition and relative intervention policies, as well as to the PRG recently adopted. The relationship between housing practices and recent migrations is analyzed, focusing on some specific ethnic groups (Chinese, Bangladesh, Romany): different ways to settle in the city are studied as semiotic processes of interpretation and strategic redefinition of relations among city areas.
