The reception of the film Forrest Gump in France. Reopening the whole question of a worldwide cultural approach. At the time of exchange globalization which provokes, it seems, the inevitable, increasing acculturation of societies, some phenomena of cultural reception, however, come to thwart this prediction or observation. For instance, the reception of American films abroad and in France in particular, is not always predictable and identical to that of America. The analysis here is about the reception of the film Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis in France, in 1994 which did not get very good reviews and was not even really successful with the French public. The universal ambition of American culture on the one hand and the great success of Forrest Gump in the United States on the other pointed to immediate support of the French spectators. Actually, the reception of the film in France showed several aspects different from that of America, thus reopening the whole question of a worldwide cultural approach.Vers une remise en cause du mondialisme culturel. A l’heure de la mondialisation des échanges qui provoque -prétend-on -une acculturation croissante et inéluctable des sociétés, des phénomènes de réception culturelle viennent pourtant contrarier cette prédiction ou constatation. C’est ainsi que la réception des films américains à l’étranger, et en France notam¬ ment, n’est pas toujours prévisible et identique à l’accueil américain. L’analyse porte ici sur la réception en France du film de Robert Zemeckis, Forrest Gump (1994), qui ne connut pas un accueil enthousiaste de la critique et même du public français. Alors même que l’ambition universelle de la culture américaine d’une part et que le grand succès de Forrest Gump aux États-Unis d’autre part pouvaient laisser supposer une adhésion immédiate des spectateurs français, l’accueil du film dans l’Hexagone présentera plusieurs différences avec la réception américaine, remettant ainsi en cause le caractère absolu du mondialisme culturel.Alfonsi Laurence.
