Inter-group relations and Europe Results of research on intergroup relations linked with social identity (e.g. Tajfel, 1978) show that social categorization of individuals in two groups produces an ingroup "favoritism" bias. In a study concerning evaluations comparing a) French and European people, b) French people and people from four european countries, European identity is appproached from the point of view of cognitive restructuration of ingroup and outgroup categories. Results show on the one hand less favoritism of French people when they are compared with Europeans, and on the other hand, fluctuations of the evaluation of the french group depending upon the group with whom they are compared.Les résultats des recherches sur les rela...
