The precarity of care practices : between necessity and exclusion This article presents the analysis of recent writings about the caring phenomena. The following dimensions are examined. We first define care practices in relation to their content and their diverse expressions (domestic or professional), and the articulation of them to the social production of health. Above their content, caring practices imply values and attitudes showing the importance of affective engagement and protection. As practices conceptualized as system of knowledge, we observe their weak social recognition, in spite of anthropological evidence of their richness and their weight in the survival capacity of population.
