The evolution of sea traffic and the adaptation of ports The growth in container transport has deeply altered sea traffic, leading to the specialization of ports in the size of containers and the creation of transit fast goods services. Roll on -roll off services over long distances and a new form of exploitation known as long term contract tramping on multi purpose ships are being developed. A new hierarchy in ports can be detected thanks to better integrated servicing. Port infrastructure is thrown back into question.
