Joseph S. Hiatt, Jr. (January 2, 1972)

Joseph Hiatt, Jr. attended Duke Medical School at the same time Richard Nixon was at Duke Law School. He crossed paths with Nixon during this time. They would often mingle at the cafeteria and remembered Nixon as very serious minded with a serious experience on his face at all times. Mr. Hiatt recalled a crippled law student who Nixon would often carry from the sidewalk up a flight of stairs to their classroom
