In nature, many plants rely on symbiotic interaction with mycorrhizae for their nutrition and survival. For instance, nitrogen-fixing nodules and mycorrhizae are well established mutualistic biotic interactions between plants and bacterial/fungal partners under nitrogen limiting environment.
