Diagnóstico de la huella de carbono por la generaci{on de residuos sólidos en las unidades productivas del Centro de Formación Agroindustrial La Angostura

The carbon footprint is an indicator that measures the production of greenhouse gases (GHG) generated by the various activities of individuals, companies, events, among others by conducting an inventory. It is relevant to develop this project at the Agroindustrial Training Center “La Angostura” (CEFA) as it allowed us to know and evaluate the impact of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the various activities performed routinely in the productive units (UP in its Spanish acronym). For this project, a diagnosis of the carbon footprint was undertaken in the 10 UP located in several productive areas such as livestock, agricultural crops, and natural environments at CEFA. To develop this diagnosis, routine activities were identified and described in the units, determining emissions sources of GHG thereby allowing for the scope of the gases emitted by the activities in UP to be established, these processes helped identify the productive units that generated emissions of greater impact on the atmosphere. Identification and quantification of solid waste generated weekly (weight in kg) in the productive units and areas for one month were conducted, the records were consolidated into one GEH 2015 spreadsheet of the Catalan Climate Canvil office, which allowed to estimate the number of tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e TON), and estimate the contribution of carbon footprint of CEFA. It was found that the area with the greatest contribution to the carbon footprint is the livestock area, with 91% of CO2eq production generated by livestock units (18% CO2 eq) and the unit of pigs farming (72% CO2eq). This project is expected to raise public awareness with the goal of establishing mitigation strategies based on corrective and preventive measures.La huella de carbono es un indicador que a través de un inventario mide la producción de gases efecto invernadero (GEI) generados por las diferentes actividades de personas, empresas, eventos, etc. Es pertinente el desarrollo de este proyecto en el Centro de Formación Agroindustrial La Angostura (CEFA), ya que permitió conocer y evaluar el impacto de las emisiones de los GEI generados por las diversas actividades que se realizan rutinariamente en las unidades productivas (UP). Este proyecto permitió realizar un diagnóstico de la Huella de Carbono en 10 UP ubicadas en diferentes áreas productivas del CEFA: pecuaria, agrícola y ambiental; para el desarrollo de este diagnóstico, se identificaron y describieron las actividades rutinarias en las unidades, logrando determinar los focos de emisión de GEI, lo que permitió establecer el alcance de los gases emitidos por las actividades en las UP. Estos procesos ayudaron a iden­tificar las áreas productivas que generan emisiones de mayor impacto para la atmósfera. Se realizó una identificación y cuantificación de los residuos sólidos generados semanalmente (peso en kg) en las unidades y áreas productivas durante un mes; los registros fueron consolidados en una hoja de cálculo GEH 2015 de la oficina Catalana del Canvil Climático, lo que permitió estimar la cantidad de toneladas de dióxido de carbono equivalente (TON CO2EQ), y estimar el aporte de huella de carbono del CEFA. Se encontró que el área con mayor aporte en la huella de carbono es el área Pecuaria, con un 91% de producción de CO2eq, generado por las unidades de Ganadería (18% CO2eq) y la unidad de Porcinos (72% CO2eq). Con este proyecto se espera lograr sen­sibilizar a la comunidad con el fin de establecer estrategias de mitigación con base en medidas correctivas y medidas preventivas
