Caracterización de residuos estériles mineros del municipio de Marmato - Caldas

The objective of this work is to determine the mechanical physical characteristics of the sterile mining wasteof the municipality of Marmato - Caldas, in order to technically evaluate the possibility of reusing the wasteas aggregate in the pavement mixture of tertiary roads and as adsorbent clay of heavy metals in miningwastewater from the same municipality. These residues correspond to the rocks and solid material extractedfrom the tunnels, which do not have a viable gold content. Small and artisanal miners dispose of this wastewithout any control or planning on the slopes surrounding the sinkholes (Jimena Motta-Pascuas et al., 2018).To carry out the current work, two samples of sterile mining waste were collected directly from the disposalarea of two mining tunnels at the sites known as “El Relleno” and “Cien Pesos” in the municipality of Marmato.Both samples were crushed in a gold beneficiation plant at the site known as “El Llano” in the samemunicipality. Then, technical tests were carried out in the soil laboratory of the SENA - Caldas Industrial andConstruction Processes Center. The results have determined the following properties: humidity, granulometry,density, PH, texture, conductivity and porosity. The results obtained will be analyzed to determine if thesterile waste complies with the regulations for the construction of tertiary roads and if it can be classified assome type of heavy metal adsorbent clay.El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar las características físico-mecánicas de los residuos estérilesmineros del municipio de Marmato – Caldas, con el fin de evaluar técnicamente la posibilidad de reutilizarlos residuos como agregado en la mezcla de pavimento de vías terciarias y como arcilla adsorbente demetales pesados en aguas residuales mineras del mismo municipio. Estos residuos corresponden a las rocas ymaterial sólido extraído de los socavones, que no tienen un contenido viable de oro. Los mineros pequeños yartesanales desechan estos residuos sin ningún control ni planeación en las laderas aledañas a los socavones(Jimena Motta-Pascuas et al., 2018). Para llevar a cabo el actual trabajo, se recolectaron dos muestras delos residuos estériles mineros directamente en la zona de disposición de dos socavones mineros en los sitios conocidos como “El Relleno” y “Cien Pesos” del municipio de Marmato. Ambas muestras fueron trituradasen una planta de beneficio de oro en el sitio conocido como “El Llano” en el mismo municipio. Luego, serealizaron ensayos técnicos en el laboratorio de suelos del Centro de Procesos Industriales y Construccióndel SENA – Caldas. Los resultados han determinado las siguientes propiedades: humedad, granulometría,densidad, PH, textura, conductividad y porosidad. Los resultados obtenidos se analizarán para determinarsi los residuos estériles cumplen con la normativa para la construcción de vías terciarias y si se pueden clasificarcomo algún tipo de arcilla adsorbente de metales pesados
