In order to improve the mechanical and tribological properties of circonium-nitride (ZrN) hard coatings, and to obtain a higher performance of them for possible industrial applications, circonium circonium nitride multilayer (Zr -ZrN) were deposited, and their microstructural, morphologic, mechanical, and tribological characteristics were investigated as function of bilayers number and period, by constant total thickness of 4 m The used characterization methodes were the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS), Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Scratch and micro-indentation measurements.
