Trichoderma is a genus of anamorphic fungi that are mostly found in rhizospere soil. and can be used to combat fungal phytopathogens (Fusarium spp which cause the wilt stem in chilli plant). Trichoderma species have long been employed as a biopesticide in agriculture. It also provides the plant with growth-promoting chemicals, such as Indole acetic acid and ammonia. The molecular mechanisms underlying this very desirable favourable effect of plant growth promotion, which includes improved nutrient availability and uptake for the plant, are not entirely understood.
