A full color image characterization was applied to the ore samples coming from both the massive copper ore and the rubané ore of the Corvo orebody (Neves-Corvo mine, Iberian Pyrite Belt, Portugal). The aim of the study was to obtain automatic minerals recognition under the optical microscope that represents the first step for determining other characteristics and measurements like quantities, crystal shapes, spatial arrangements, size distribution, etc.)
