A portrait photograph of Delbert Oberteuffer.Delbert Oberteuffer was born in Portland, Oregon, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degree from Columbia University. Oberteuffer taught at Ohio State from 1932 to 1966 and was head of the men's physical education department for 25 years. He was the author of a basic textbook, ''Physical Education,'' and co-author of another, entitled ''School Health Education.'' He edited the Journal of School Health from 1959 to 1973. Also, Oberteuffer was a past president of the American School Health Association and the College Physical Education Association
