The Amish population in the United States is growing rapidly, leading to many new Amish communities. This mixed-methods study establishes the demographic characteristics within two newly formed Amish districts in New York State and determines the community's perceived health care needs. The study targeted married individuals within the two districts, utilizing informational meetings, individual meetings, and the creation of a Perceived Health Care Needs Questionnaire. The findings included baseline demographics, barriers to health care access, desired health care provider qualities, and perceptions related to health care costs.
