The problem in this study was to discover and set forth the professional reading practices engaged in by teachers in the public elementary schools of Brooklyn, New York, during the year 1936-1937. The problem has three aspects: (1) to discover the professional reading practices of 104 teachers taken in a random sampling of 19 public elementary schools of Brooklyn, New York; (2) to analyse the factors influencing the professional reading of those teachers; (3) to offer suggestions for guiding teachers in professional reading
