In this paper, attention is focused on data quality control and exploratory analysis of a large data set built for the evaluation of a rain enhancement project. The properties and characteristics of the rainfall process are studied from a statistical perspective. Data come from a high-density pluviometrie network and this provided a large data set allowing detailed examination of the spatial and temporal structure of rainfall on several scales.
