Recientemente, el desarrollo de métodos efectivos para la síntesis de diamante conductor de la electricidad y el estudio de las propiedades de este material como electrodo en procesos electroquímicos, han permitido el desarrollo de numerosas aplicaciones, tanto en electroquímica industrial y medioambiental como en química electroanalítica. En este trabajo, se hace una recopilación sobre las principales aplicaciones actuales y futuras de este material en tecnología electroquímica, centrándose en dos: la electrosíntesis de oxidantes inorgánicos de interés industrial y el tratamiento de efluentes industriales contaminados con materia orgánica.
