The text purposes a discussion between ongoing formation and practical instruction based on elementary school history teachers. The discussion will be conducted based on the question: “In what extent the formation, in different degrees, reflect on teacher's practice?”. The analysis takes the results obtained through the research project Teaching history: a study about the teaching practice and historical narrative productions by elementary school history teachers (Paraná - São Paulo - Bahia - Goiás 1998-2014), coordinated by teacher Marlene Cainelli (UEL), based on conceptual references of historical education.
