This study aims to determine the effect of competence on employee performance with training as an intervening variable for the secretariat section of the Riau Provincial Public Works Department. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study were employees of the Secretariat Section of the Public Works Office of Riau Province, amounting to 70 people and the sample in this study were all civil servants in the Secretariat Section of the Public Works Department of Riau Province as many as 42 people.
