E-cigarette use increased by 900% from 2011-2015 among middle and high school students in the United States.1 They are currently the most commonly used form of tobacco product in youths. Despite the public perception that e-cigarettes, or vaping, use is a safe alternative to the traditional use of tobacco, there are serious health implications. E-cigarette, or vaping, use-associated lung injury (EVALI) is a dangerous pulmonary condition associated with the use of such products. The prevalence, symptoms, diagnostic approach, management, and complications will be presented. EVALI often causes fevers, cough, shortness of breath, and nausea.
