The article proposes the definition of an idiom, defines the essence of an idiomatic expression, describes the functional features of idioms and their pragmatic potential in the English advertising discourse. The reasons for the use of idiomatic expressions in English advertising texts are proposed for consideration.В статье дается определение идиомы, определяется сущность идиоматического выражения, описываются функциональные особенности идиом и их прагматический потенциал в англоязычном рекламном дискурсе.
