The article raises the question of the feasibility of a functional approach to the teaching of the Russian language. In this case, the language is studied as an activity, not as only a system of elements for description. The functional-pragmatic approach proposed by modern psycholinguistics seems to be the most effective one. Students enter the “Russian world” both with the “Russian Word”.
