The article briefly reviewed the history the development ideas about the sources generation the Earth's magnetic field and other astrophysical objects. The dynamo mechanism, the Sutherland and Einstein hypothesis is discussed. Particular attention is paid to the substantiation Sutherland's hypothesis in the framework of relational and geometric physical concepts.В статье кратко рассмотрена история развития представлений об источниках генера- ции магнитного поля Земли и других астрофизических объектов.
