EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT TO POPULARIZE CHINESE SCIENCE, CULTURE AND LANGUAGE ABROAD

The article is devoted to the popularization of Chinese education, Chinese culture and language in foreign countries. In the context of the globalization processes that is actively going on in the modern era and is playing an increasingly important role in the world, erasing national borders and making education international, the Chinese government strive to broaden the views of other peoples about Chinese culture and language and to introduce them to the development of Chinese education and science. The Chinese government is developing projects and creating organizational structures through which there will be conducted both educational and educational-promotional activities in foreign countries. For this aim the State Chancellery for the Distribution of the Chinese Language (Hanban) established a network of Confucius Institutes, which is a network of international cultural and educational centres with hundreds of educational institutions in dozens of countries around the world. The article analyses in detail its activities. The authors note that the main strategic direction of China's educational policy outside the PRC is simultaneously the dominance in the general Asian education system and access to the international arena as a state with universal educational projects capable of pressuring the US and Western countries from the world's dominant positions. The Chinese government is actively seeking to replace English with Chinese in certain areas of science and education, make it a working language of many scientific events and in the implementation of international research projects. The authors emphasize that numerous structures directly affiliated with the PRC government are pursuing a consistent policy of building an extensive institutional system of popularizing Chinese education, Chinese culture and language around the world, forming a new system of global education which will be alternative the Western one
