Eighty-three years after first being proposed, the Bradfield Scheme and its variants still arise as part of the national discourse on drought and water security. The term Bradfield has become almost synonymous with ideas for ‘solving drought’ by turning north Queensland rivers inland and/or moving water from northern Australia south.
