Recurrent renal stone in thoracic ectopic kidney due to diaphragmatic hernia

[Extract] Renal ectopia is a rare phenomenon of the genitourinary tract. Ectopic kidneys can be found in the pelvis, iliac fossae and contralateral renal fossa and thorax. Thoracic kidneys are the rarest form of all renal ectopia (<5%)1,2 often diagnosed as an incidental finding. We present a case of recurrent renal stone in a thoracic kidney. A 64-year-old man was referred to the urology outpatient service for evaluation of intermittent right-sided loin pain and visible haematuria. He reported episodes of ureteric colic in his mid-30s which were managed conservatively by his general practitioner with symptoms control. He passed small stones spontaneously. There was no prior abdominal imaging
