Propuesta de opciones de Turismo Alternativo integradas al cantón Cuenca

Ecuador is a country that has a wide variety of tourist attractions; However, it is noted that, despite national policies regarding the development of this activity, the potential for the development of alternative forms of tourism is not widely assessed. For this reason, this research aims to identify alternative tourism options, as a contribution to strengthening the positioning of the destination Cuenca, Ecuador; since the emphasis of management is currently on cultural and religious attractions, managed as city tourism. The study is based on the lifting of primary information, through the application of the methodology of tourist inventories issued by the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, 2017; instrument that enabled the attractions in the selected areas to be hierarchical, in order to establish the sources that would subsequently facilitate the development of tourist products integrated into the current offer; promoting a target management approach. This analysis was complemented by the application of interview questionnaires, surveys and focus groups, linking the actors that are part of the tourism management decision-making process in the territory, which allowed to evaluate their perception of the causes that hinder the development of alternative tourism offers; descriptive and inferential statistical measurement methods were used for the processing of information, which showed that in the 20 parishes selected as the subject of study, there are 12 resources /attractives evaluated with hierarchy II and 8 with hierarchy I, currently wasted, that can be valued from the structuring of tourist offers, provided that the weaknesses identified around management and concrete, tourism development policies in the territory are eliminated and/or attenuated in order to generate development opportunities for the locality.Ecuador es un país que posee gran variedad de atractivos turísticos; no obstante, se observa que, a pesar de las políticas planteadas a nivel nacional con relación al desarrollo de esta actividad, no se evalúan ampliamente las potencialidades de desarrollo de formas alternativas del turismo. Por tal razón, esta investigación tiene como objetivo, identificar opciones de turismo alternativo, como contribución al fortalecimiento del posicionamiento del destino Cuenca, Ecuador; dado que, en la actualidad, el énfasis de la gestión, está en los atractivos culturales y religiosos, manejados como turismo de ciudad. El estudio se apoya en el levantamiento de información primaria, a través de la aplicación de la metodología de inventarios turísticos emitida por el Ministerio de Turismo de Ecuador, 2017; instrumento que posibilitó jerarquizar los atractivos existentes en las zonas seleccionadas, a fin de establecer las fuentes que, posteriormente, faciliten el desarrollo de productos turísticos integrados a la oferta actual; promoviendo un enfoque de gestión de destino. Se complementó este análisis con la aplicación de cuestionarios de entrevistas, encuestas y grupos focales, vinculando los actores que forman parte del proceso de decisión de gestión turística en el territorio, lo que permitió evaluar su percepción acerca de la causas que obstaculizan el desarrollo de ofertas de turismo alternativo; para el procesamiento de la información se utilizaron métodos de medición estadísticos descriptivos e inferenciales, lo que evidenció como resultado que en las 20 parroquias seleccionadas como objeto de estudio, existen 12 recursos/atractivos evaluados con jerarquía II y 8 con jerarquía I, actualmente desaprovechados, que pueden ponerse en valor a partir de la estructuración de ofertas turísticas, siempre que se eliminen y/o atenúen las debilidades identificadas en torno a la gestión y se concreten las políticas de desarrollo turístico en el territorio a fin de generar oportunidades de desarrollo para la localidad
