Coliform bacteria are Gram-negative belongs to the genera such as Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Klebsiella and Escherichia. Coliform bacteria are capable to cause pneumonia, respiratory diseases and urinary tract infections. As water provides as a potential transmission channel for pathogenic coliform bacteria, the rising cases of waterborne disease have raised concerns over the years. This research was carried out to isolate, identify, and characterize coliforms bacteria from water samples of Ranchan river, Sarawak.
