Basic ecclesial communities as a social movement

La presente investigación centra su mirada en las Comunidades Eclesiales de Base (CEB’S) desde 1950 hasta 1994, que a partir de un análisis histórico-crítico demostrará que estas comunidades presentes en Colombia y Latinoamérica son un movimiento social y popular, nacidas de los contextos pobres de la sociedad, donde su característica más notable es la fe cristiana católica, pero con un sentido crítico y liberador. Además, estas comunidades son testigos directos del conflicto social colombiano, y desde allí dan su aporte para la construcción de sujetos socio-políticos y una renovación eclesial dentro de la Iglesia Católica.The main purpose of the present research is to focus on the basic ecclesial communities (BEC) in the period between 1950 and 1994. From a historical-critical analysis, this work shows that those communities established in Colombia and Latin America are in fact a social and popular movement born in the poorest sectors of society. Their most outstanding characteristic is their catholic christian faith enriched with a profound sense of reflexion and liberation. The BEC have been direct witnesses of the social colombian conflict and therefore their role in promoting social and political actors contributes to renovate the society and the catholic church itself.N/
