Evaluation of the durability of Pinus sylvestris L. and Picea abies (L.) H. Karst. Following the guidelines of Standard ASTM D 1758-06

El presente estudio determinó la durabilidad de la madera inmunizada y no tratada de las especies Picea abies (L.) Karts (abeto noruego) y Pinus sylvestris L. (pino silvetre), frente al ataque de termitas bajo condiciones del trópico, siguiendo los lineamientos de la norma ASTM D 1758/06. El material procede de los bosques de Austria en el centro de Europa, donde las especies en mención son consideradas en el mercado de la madera Mass Timber porsus diversas ventajas en resistencia, calidad y tecnología. El ensayo consistió en establecer un cementerio de estacas localizado en el municipio de Villanueva Casanare, Colombia; la instalación del cementerio se llevó a cabo siguiendo un diseño completamente al azar con 210 probetas de dimensiones 40 x 40 x 280 mm, distribuidas en nueve tratamientos que se dispusieron en campo sobre filas de 0.6 m y columnas de 0.5 m, enterradas a una profundidad promedio de 20 cm. La evaluación se realizó en dos periodos de tiempo valorando la afectación en los planos longitudinal, transversal y de profundidad tanto a los dos como a los diez meses.The present study determined the durability of the immunized and untreated wood of the species Picea abies (L.) Karts (Norway spruce) and Pinus sylvestris L. (Silvetre pine), against termite attack under tropical conditions, following the guidelines of ASTM D 1758/06. The material comes from the Austrian forests in central Europe, where the species in question are considered in the Mass Timber wood market for their various advantages in resistance, quality and technology. The trial consisted of establishing a stake cemetery located in the municipality of Villanueva Casanare, Colombia; the installation of the cemetery was carried out following a completely random design with 210 specimens of dimensions 40 x 40 x 280 mm, distributed in nine treatments that were arranged in the field on rows of 0.6 m and columns of 0.5 m, buried at an average depth 20 cm.
