El presente trabajo de investigación describe los resultados del estudio fitoquímico realizado a los Principios Activos de las cortezas de las especies vegetales Mimosa tenuiflora y Mimosa púdica (Fabaceae), para esto se obtuvieron los Principios Activos procedentes de las cortezas por la técnica de extracción sólido-líquido, usando un equipo de reflujo; para la caracterización química de los metabolitos secundarios presentes se realizó un Análisis Fitoquímico Preliminar (AFP) haciendo comparación de propiedades físicas y datos reportados en la literatura, en donde se pudo caracterizar la presencia inicial de metabolitos secundarios de tipo alcaloide y tanino en los Principios Activos de Mimosa tenuiflora y Mimosa púdica.
