A reproduktív immunológia az orvostudomány azon területe, mely az immunrendszer és a reprodukciós rendszer közötti kapcsolattal (mint például a magzattal szembeni anyai immuntolerancia) foglalkozik. A terhesség tulajdonképpen egy „immunológiai paradoxon”, mivel az anya immunrendszere a fele részben idegen eredetű apai antigéneket is hordozó magzat ellen nem lép fel (a magzat immunológiailag szemi-allogénnek tekinthető), hanem egy igen összetett toleranciamechanizmus révén elfogadja, elősegítve így az egészséges magzat zavartalan fejlődését, majd világra jövetelét. Abban az esetben, ha a tolerancia nem megfelelően alakul ki, számos komplikációhoz vezethet, sőt vetélés is létrejöhet
