Based on the social cognitive theory and trait activation theory, the current study aimed to explore the effect of empowering leadership on employees' job performance, especially the mediational role of employees' self-efficacy and the moderational role of employees' proactive personality. The results of regression analyses on the data from 227 employees and their direct leader indicated that a) empowering leadership positively related to employees' self-efficacy which in turn positively correlated with job performance rated by supervisor; b) empowering leadership had a positive indirect effect on job performance through employees' self-efficacy and c) employees' proactive personality moderated this indirect effect w...
