Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) have worldwide recognition due to their versatility, simple structure, and low maintenance cost with high torque and power capability. Recent developments are being made in SRMs which exponents its growth as a substitute for DC and permanent magnet motors. Hybrid excitation of switched reluctance motor (HESRM) improves the torque capability for variable speed applications. The HESRM methods integrated with rare earth metals adopt the permanent magnet (PM) behavior and intensify the airgap flux density.
