WISALTS column discusses research into aspects of most areas requires a great deal of time and money. Governments in Australia, both State and Federal, through several agencies funds agricultural research. Who makes the decision as to how much money is spent; who does the research; and to whom they are responsible? Co-operation in research can save duplication. Farmers would benefit from the research, needing the time and the inclination to read the material to try out some of the ideas.
