The Royal Site of Capodimonte was commissioned by Carlo di Borbone first as a hunting reserve (1735), subsequently adding a park, a garden and the royal palace (1737-1738). From the beginning the forest and the gardens were closely linked to the rural areas, which contributed to the maintenance of the Royal site. During the XIXth century the design of the green was modified due to the inclusion of the English landscape garden and to the detriment of the rural areas. But what happened when Capodimonte was alienated by the Casa reale (Royal House) to become e a museum (1957)? The palace, transformed into a museum, was separated from the park.
