Sustainability, technological innovation and digitalization are key concepts that in-form the transformation processes of the built environment by intervening in the definition of new urban habitats and new ways of living. The paper, part of the debate on the “city of the future”, illustrates, through the case of the City of Toronto, some urban densifica-tion phenomena, governed by settlement principles that include concepts such as smart-ness, networking, remote control, etc. and which offer interesting process and product innovations in the field of wood technologies
