Les émigrations internationales de l’Albanie: une étude comparée des estimations locales et internationales

The international emigrations of Albania: A comparative study on local and international estimations Maria Carella*, Eros Moretti**, Anna Paterno* During the 90’s, Albania represented one of the countries most involved in the processes of territorial mobility between Eastern and Western Europe. In order to describe these movements, in this paper we try to carry out a comparative analysis and a critical survey of the different information available about the quantification of the global numeric consistency and the definition of the structural features of the Albanian flows in the last decade. To reach this aim, the different estimations on Albanian migration, coming from international and national sources, will be compared to one another and also to the most recent data on the amount and on the distribution per gender and age of the Albanian immigrants in the main countries of destination – namely Italy and Greece. The final goal of the work consists in assessing if the indications, given at local (Albanian INSTAT) and international (United Nations Organisation) level, on the recent migratory dynamic verified in Albania during the 90’s converge or show instead relevant discrepancy among themselves regarding the observable quantification in the main destination countries of the Albanian flows
