BACKGROUND: Placebo-controlled studies in maintaining remission of symptomatic uncomplicated diverticular disease (SUDD) of the colon are lacking. AIM: To assess the effectiveness of mesalazine and/or probiotics in maintaining remission in SUDD. METHODS: A multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted.
