Although not essential for plants the lanthanum and cerium elements, both rare earth element (REE), have received attention due to increased use in industry and their potential impact on environment and agriculture. Regarding agriculture in Brazil, phosphate fertilizer shows REE in its composition depending on the raw material used and process of purification. This study aimed at investigating the effect of La and Ce on the development and production of Glycine max L. Foliar application of aqueous solutions of La3+ and Ce3+ nitrates on soybean plants was sprayed at 200 and 2,000 mg L-1. The foliar treatments did not affect the development and production.
