The problem of succession in norman and Angevin England(1066-1216) in narrative sources of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century

The dissertation is focused on the problem of succession to the royal throne of England in the period from the accession of William the Conqueror in 1066 to the death of King John in 1216. This topic is studied from the point of view of narrative sources written mostly in the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century. The goal of this thesis is to follow the making of the image of succession in England and to find some tendencies of development regarding the approach to the accession to the throne in these narrative sources through its analysis and comparison. The core of this work is made by the analysis of Angevin narrative sources, contextualized by the study of other works which influenced the emergence of Angevin texts and the forming of their authors' opinions and views.Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou následnictví na královský trůn v Anglii v období od nástupu Viléma Dobyvatele na trůn v roce 1066 do smrti Jana Bezzemka v roce 1216. Dané téma nahlíží zejména optikou narativních pramenů, vzniklých převážně ve 12. a na počátku 13. století. Cílem práce je tedy na základě analýzy a komparace těchto pramenů sledovat utváření obrazu následnictví v Anglii a případně zachytit v pramenech vyhledatelné vývojové tendence v přístupu k obsazení trůnu. Jádrem práce je analýza vybraných narativních pramenů z období vlády anjouovské dynastie, které zasazuje do kontextu dalších děl, jež měla vliv na vznik těchto textů a formování názorového spektra jejich autorů.Institute of General HistoryÚstav světových dějinFilozofická fakultaFaculty of Art
