The evolution of czech hip hop media from subculture to mainstream

This Master's thesis focuses on the history of the hip hop subculture and the character of rappers and female rappers. The aim of this thesis is to analyze chosen hip hop media in the Czech Republic and to determine what is content and also linguistic characteristic of the chosen Czech hip hop media and further to determine the role of rappers and female rappers therein as well as gender balance of the examined media content. The thesis is divided into two sections, this being theoretical and methodical section. The theoretical section firstly examines the history of the hip hop subculture from the global perspective and its evolution in the Czech Republic. The first part of the history section focuses on the main milestones of the hip hop subculture history with the prevailing orientation on music, hip hop media, and other channels of its distribution. In the chapter describing the evolution of hip hop in the Czech Republic the thesis focuses on the development of the music genre, the introduction of the significant interprets and connection of the context with the other aspects of distribution of the hip hop subculture into the mainstream. The following chapter in the theoretical section which explores the evolution of academic subculture studies, cultural studies, and post-subcultural...Tato diplomová práce se zabývá historií hiphopové subkultury a zaměřuje se na postavu rappera a rapperky. Cílem práce je zanalyzovat vybraná tuzemská média zaměřující se na hip hop a určit, jaká je jejich obsahová, jazyková stránka, jak je v nich prezentovaná postava rappera a rapperky a jaká je genderová vyváženost analyzovaného obsahu. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a metodologickou část. Teoretická část se nejdříve zaměřuje na historii hiphopové subkultury v celosvětovém měřítku a jejím rozvoji v Čechách. V první části historie je pozornost věnována hlavním milníkům vývoje hiphopové subkultury s orientací na její hudební složku, hiphopová média a další možné prostředky jejího šíření. V popisu vývoje hip hopu v českém prostředí se práce zaměřuje na rozvoj hudebního žánru, představení zásadních interpretů a propojení kontextu s dalšími prvky šíření hiphopové subkultury do mainstreamu. Součástí teoretické části práce se rovněž zabývá vývojem akademického studia subkultur, kulturálních studií a postsubkulturního směru. Další kapitola se zaměřuje na postavu rappera a rapperky a jejich různé typy a charakteristiky. Metodologická část obsahuje popis kritické diskurzivní analýzy a obsahové analýzy, následně uvádí výzkumné otázky a vysvětluje výběr zkoumaného vzorku.
