87 HalamanMetode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah yuridis normatif yaitu jenis penelitian yang dilakukan dengan mempelajari peraturan perundang-undangan yang ada. Sifat penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis untuk memberikan data yang seteliti mungkin. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara penelitian kepustakaan (Library Research). Metode ini dengan melakukan penelitian terhadap berbagai sumber bacaan tertulis yaitu buku-buku tentang hukum, jurnal-jurnal hukum dan juga peraturan perundang-undang yang telah ada. Penelitian lapangan (Field Research) yaitu dengan melakukan penelitian ke lapangan, dalam hal ini penulis langsung melakukan studi pada Kepolisian Daerah Sumatera Utara dengan melakukan wawancara dengan penyidik yang bertugas menemukan sidik jari (teknik daktiloskopi). Hasil pembahasan yang diperoleh adalah dengan implementasi teknik daktiloskopi bagi penyidik dalam melaksanakan penyidikan merupakan langkah awal yang penting dalam penentuan kejelasan tindak pidana yang terjadi dan identitas jati diri seseorang. Kendala yang terjadi dalam pengambilan sidik jari mencakup kendala eksternal misalnya faktor di Tempat Kejadian Perkara (TKP) dan kondisi sidik jari bawaan. Selain itu adanya kendala internal meliputi Salah mengidentifikasi (error in persona), perbedaan pendapat para ahli, dan jumlah penyidik yang terbatas. The research method used in this research is normative juridical, namely the type of research conducted by studying the existing laws and regulations. The nature of this research is descriptive analysis to provide data as accurate as possible. The data collection technique was carried out by means of library research. This method is by conducting research on various written reading sources, namely books on law, legal journals and also existing statutory regulations. Field research, namely by conducting research into the field, in this case the author directly conducts research at the North Sumatra Regional Police by conducting interviews with investigators in charge of finding fingerprints (dactyloscopy technique). The results of the discussion obtained that the application of dactyloscopy techniques for investigators in conducting investigations is an important first step in determining the clarity of the crime that occurred and the identity of a person. Obstacles that occur in taking fingerprints include external constraints, for example the traces left at the crime scene are not perfect, the fingerprints found are the fingerprints of people who are not related to the crime of murder and people who want to see the crime scene of the cause. The crime scene is damaged. In addition, there are internal obstacles, including differences of opinion from experts and the limited number of investigators
