Fly ash merupakan limbah padat yang dihasilkan dari pembakaran batu bara, diperoleh dari proses pembakaran batu bara secara sederhana. Proses tersebut bisa menimbulkan masalah lingkungan, maka salah satu cara agar material hasil produksi sampingan tersebut tidak mengkontaminasi lingkungan adalah dengan menggunakan matrial tersebut sebagai bahan pengganti semen.
